Match report by BCC captain Somnath

Another successful chase by BCC in very hot and humid condition.

BCC won the toss and chose to field. Ravi and Ballu opened the bowling and bowled great line and length to RCC openers Visu and Bishesh. Both the openers played sensibly and kept rotating the strike.

As usual introduction of Ubhaynath (7-32-1) changed the scene as he immediately struck with the wicket of Visu. A thick edge deflected by Keepers hands were taken beautifully by Janith at first slip. He surely has the best reflexes in the side.

Introduction of spin did the trick for BCC. Yoges bowled beautifully from the near end (7-28-5). A second “5 for” for a BCC bowler this session (first one was obviously Ubhaynath). Kavi (7-37-2) bowled beautifully from the far end but was bit unlucky to have not picked at least couple of more wickets as catches/stumping’s were missed. Kavi has been quite consistent lately.

RCC finished at 149 for 8 in allotted 35 over’s.

BCC opened with Roshan and Yoges. Roshan carried on from where he left in the last few matches i.e. running the ball down to the 3rd man or scoping the ball over the keeper/slip cordon’s head for plenty. Unfortunately Yoges misjudged the line of a ball and got caught while trying to pull it.

Janith (number 3) started with a promise but played one cross batted short too many to be adjudged LBW. In came our local ‘Chetan Chauhan’, Sandeep, fresh from his adventures in Punjab. He didn’t bother the scorer’s but to be fair to him, he was caught beautifully at first slip. Many other batsmen have been let off of much easier chances and Sandeep must have felt a bit unlucky.

When kalith chased a wide delivery to get caught behind quickly suddenly BCC was having a mini collapse (50-4). Somnath played a steady hand as Roshan was playing his natural game and hitting the ball regularly before falling for 43 with score reading 83-5.

Baldev, who generously agreed to bat at number 7 (despite having a great success at number 3) came out to bat thanks to his team mates who woke him up just in time (he was apparently napping). It showed as he mistimed a low full toss straight to mid wicket to make the match interesting (93-6).

Kavi and Somnath added another 25 runs before Somnath was c&b by Bishesh with score reading 118-7. It was never about run rate and BCC never went below 4 and over. It was all about keeping wickets in hand.
Thanks to Kavi and Ubhaynath we managed to reach the target with no more drama and earn ourselves another well deserved victory. Kavi is contributing not just with bowling and fielding but batting as well.
